Project Description
NARI FLORIDA WEST COAST REMODELING AWARDS
1st Place ~ Commercial Speciality
Our client purchased an office structure located centrally to the St Petersburg business district. The property was owned by an attorney for the previous ten years. He was an elder, solo practitioner who allowed the building to deteriorate.
With the property in new hands, our client wanted to update the structure to current codes and make several changes to elements of the building. Their business involves dealings with other businesses worldwide, so additional office space was necessary. One of the primary objectives of the new design was to bring a Key West architecture to the elevations and create a comfortable, spacious flow from office to office. A desire for simplicity with function was emphasized.
During design meetings with the owner, we identified the following changes needed to the structure:
- Replace all windows and doors.
- Keep the existing hardwood flooring and add new as needed.
- Update the architecture of the building to a Key West style.
- Convert the garage into an additional office space.
We set out on the task of integrating a Key West style to the elevations by enlarging the front portico and allowing for an over-frame of the rear roof line to provide for cover to the new rear entry. Zoning requirements forced us to make the rear entry the main access to the building and place all parking to feed from the side access road.
In addition, we have pictorial represented this project with "before" photo's adjacent to all of the "finished" photo's on all of the major views of this spectacular building transformation. Enjoy!
