Project Description

Our client was interested in purchasing an existing commercial structure that was centrally located in the St Petersburg business district. They were planning to expand their law practice into the area and chose this location.

The site was perfect, but the building was outdated and needed a face-lift. One of the primary objectives of the design was to allow for more natural light to enter into the reception area. Another critical element was to update the architecture of the structure. A desire for simplicity with function was emphasized.

During design meetings with the owner, we identified the following changes needed with the structure:

Allow for more natural light to enter into the reception area.
Update the architecture of the building to a Mediterranean style.

We set out on the task of integrating a false roof system to provide for the new Espanya Clay Tile roof. This roof system continued along the entire front of the building and blends in to the larger hip roofline over the front portico. The double entry columns provide for balance at the entry. Traditional Mediterranean colors were used on the building and in the blend of clay roof tiles.

Our design solution represents the transformation of the structure into a Mediterranean style law office. Enjoy!
